As there had been increasing supply bottlenecks in recent years regarding pistons and liners for these engines, we decided to have the components manufactured in-house. In addition to ensuring consistently better availability, the focus was particularly on the technical optimisation of the pistons.
Thanks to a modern piston design specifically tailored to the engines’ requirements, the weight of each piston has been reduced by around 100 grams. The reduced mass to be moved takes the strain off the crankshaft assembly and noticeably improves the engine’s responsiveness. The result is more agile acceleration and a livelier engine performance overall.
The pistons are supplied with the piston rings already fitted and form part of a complete set which, in addition to the pistons, also includes the matching liners and all necessary seals. This makes engine overhauls considerably easier.
The new piston and liner kits are available in sizes 86 mm, 87.5 mm and 89 mm and are suitable for both original engine overhauls and performance-oriented builds.
