Heading for the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix: Classic Team BASTUCK will be at the start line

Every year it is a highlight when hundreds of different historic racing cars arrive at the Nürburgring in order to take part in the Oldtimer Grand Prix. As for the Classic Team BASTUCK the Nürburgring is the home racetrack, the Saarland team will participate in the 46th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix with 3 vehicles.

This week-end it is time again to send out the vintage cars back onto the racetrack. For the Classic Team BASTUCK the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix has been representing a fixed date in their calendar of events for many years. This year the team will be represented with three vehicles at the same time: Volker Strycek and Bernhard Wagner will drive a Triumph TR 4 (start number 31) in race 5 for two-seated racing cars and GT up to 1960/61. It is Rainer Bastuck himself who will also compete in this race. He will sit in the cockpit of his Marcos 1800 GT, having a firm target: „It would be fantastic to earn the class win, just like last year. If our results are even good enough to earn a sound position in the overall ranking, I will be more than happy “, says the company founder of BASTUCK & Co. GmbH. The absolute highlight of race 5 is the so-called „night race“ which will take place on Saturday evening lasting until the late night hours and thus will at least partly be carried out in the dark.

Next to the participation in the sprint race, the team will also participate in the Time, Speed and Distance rallye (TSD), the Vintage Sports Car Trophy, for the first time. Next to Rainer Bastuck at the driver’s place, his daughter Anke will be sitting at the passenger seat to navigate her father. The emergency vehicle they rely on is the Wolseley Hornet Special, constructed in 1932 (start number 21) which Rainer Bastuck discovered and bought some years ago in Malta.

The whole team is already looking forward to this event with lots of pleasant anticipation, since the Oldtimer Grand Prix continues to be something really special every year. „Having such a great summer weather, we, of course, hope to count lots of spectators creating an impressive atmosphere and kindly invite all enthusiasts of classic vehicles to come and visit us at our driver’s paddock at our stand“, announces Rainer Bastuck.

The first race the participants will take part in is race 5 on Friday afternoon at 2.35 p.m., being the 30-minute qualifying. The first time it will become serious for Rainer and Anke Bastuck is the first lap for the Time, Speed and Distance (TSD) on Friday at 6.30 p.m. in their Wolseley Hornet.

On Saturday the 65-minute night race (race 5) will start at 8.30 p.m. On Sunday the father-daughter-team is in demand again when the second TSD-lap starts at 8.15 a.m. The second 30-minute race for two-seated racing cars and GT up to 1960/61 (race 5) will take place at 12:50 a.m.
